President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Maldives Economic Gateway project would be the most significant economic initiative to date during a conversation with the residents of Hoarafushi, Haa Alifu Atoll.
The President highlighted the Administration's ongoing efforts to develop the economic sector as part of its "Week14" roadmap. He expressed the aim of achieving economic development while simultaneously addressing and repaying existing debt, providing insights into the inherited debt from previous governments.
President Dr. Muizzu committed to restarting discontinued projects that were previously commissioned for the development of Hoarafushi Island. He emphasised that these projects, along with new initiatives, would align with campaign pledges and allow for the initiation of a maximum number of projects within the year. Notable among these projects are the hospital project, addressing land erosion issues, waste management, and land reclamation, all of which hold high significance for the island's residents.
