President meets with Maarandhoo Island Council and WDC

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the Maarandhoo Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) at the Haa Alifu Atoll Education Centre.

During the meeting, Council Members emphasized the imperative need for enhancing electricity, medical laboratory, and banking services on the island. They also highlighted the importance of upgrading sports facilities. The Council members stressed the need for a new building to house the Council secretariat and conveyed the request of the island’s senior citizens for Maarandhoofaru to be included under the jurisdiction of Maarandhoo. Furthermore, they emphasised the urgency of expediting the island’s harbor development project.

WDC members, at the meeting, noted the need for a conducive work environment and appealed for more training opportunities. They also shared additional concerns with the President.

During today’s meeting, the President assured that the Administration would convey the Council’s concerns to relevant Government offices to seek amicable solutions. Cabinet Members present at the meeting shared the latest updates on the Administration’s efforts to address the raised concerns.
