President says 2,000 housing units will be constructed in Kulhudhuffushi

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans for a 2,000-unit housing project set to launch in Kulhudhuffushi City this year. He made the announcement during a gathering with the residents of Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu emphasised that Kulhudhuffushi will be the first island in a broader initiative to develop urban centres across seven regions of the country. He underscored that the endeavor aims to foster structural development and economic prospects in larger islands, offering inhabitants of other islands the voluntary opportunity to relocate.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the launch of a significant housing project in Kulhudhuffushi, affirming his commitment to commence construction on 2,000 housing units this year. He also said that the project will address the housing challenges in the island permanently.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu noted that the previous administration had initiated 400 units with an additional 1,000 units in progress. Coupled with the current government's 2,000-unit project, the island would witness the establishment of a total of 3,400 housing units.
