President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has outlined his commitment to prioritising the development of Kanditheemu during his current term, with a particular focus on enhancing economic opportunities. He made the remarks while speaking with the residents of Kanditheemu, Shaiyani Atoll.
Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu acknowledged the challenges posed by the limited budget inherited from the previous administration. Despite the previous government's allocation of funds to numerous projects, he noted the inadequacy of resources for many initiatives, hindering the commencement of new projects and the timely completion of ongoing projects in the islands.
Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu detailed the government's initiatives for the development of Kanditheemu, including plans to address harbour issues, upgrade the island health centre by increasing medical personnel and services, construct island roads, expand school facilities, and establish a sports facility. He also pledged to increase the number of resorts and bolster economic prospects within the region.
