Prior gov't planned to destabilise economy, bankrupt nation: Gov't

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has stated that the previous government had nefarious plans to destabilise the economy and plunge the nation into bankruptcy. He made the statement while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Milandhoo during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to Shaviyani Atoll.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu emphasised that the current administration remains resolute against any attempts to undermine the country's progress, dismissing opposition rhetoric aimed at disrupting national stability.

Highlighting the failed strategies of the former President and Foreign Minister to financially cripple the Maldives during their tenure, Minister Saeed underscored that their motives have been laid bare by their vocal opposition to the current government. Moreover, he pointedly criticised the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), alleging a consistent pattern of actions detrimental to the nation's economic well-being.

Despite inheriting a precarious economic situation, Minister Saeed reassured the public that tangible strides are being made under the present leadership, with visible progress towards development. He affirmed the commitment of the citizens to steering the country forward on a trajectory of growth, firmly rejecting any attempts to derail these efforts.
