The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that over 200,000 tourist arrivals visited the Maldives within a single month, marking a historic first.
The latest statistics published by the tourism ministry show that over 200,004 arrivals visited the Maldives as of February 26. The figure represents a notable surge of 19.9% compared to the 166,762 tourists recorded during the corresponding period last year.
The statistics show that the total tourist influx for the year has soared to nearly 400,000, with 392,389 arrivals documented so far. It marks a significant increase of 15.7% from the 339,261 visitors during the same timeframe in the preceding year. The statistics also show that February witnessed an unprecedented surge in tourists, with a remarkable peak of 10,213 arrivals on February 10, marking the highest single-day influx in the country's history.
The government's target is to attract two million tourists this year, but the ministry anticipates that the actual number of tourists will reach 2.3 million.
