President concludes his visit to some islands of north

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has completed his visit to the four northern atolls of the country, encompassing 20 islands in Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, and Noonu atolls.

This marks the third tour of the President as part of his initiative to visit all islands of the Maldives. The primary purpose of the visit was to engage closely with the councils and the local populace.

Throughout the trip, the President visited seven islands in Haa Alifu, five islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, four islands in Noonu Atoll, and four islands in Shaviyani Atoll. Each island was graced with the President's presence, where he met with the Island Council, Women's Development Committee (WDC), and the residents.

Additionally, the President held meetings with the councils and Women's Development Committees of other islands within the respective atolls. This resulted in engagements with 51 island councils across these four atolls. Meetings were also conducted with the Atoll Council and the Kulhudhuffushi City Council.

During these interactions, the President communicated his plans for regional development. He assured residents of the implementation of the Maldives Economic Gateway project in the north and the establishment of three airports.

Furthermore, the President addressed issues such as land space constraints, housing, and structural development of the islands. The government's vision for expanding tourism in the north and developing the island's economy, particularly in ecotourism and agriculture, was shared.

Having visited nine atolls thus far, the President remains committed to his goal of visiting every island in the Maldives within the year. He plans to revisit each island at least twice during his tenure.
