President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to develop an industrial zone in Alifushi, Raa Atoll, along with the Alifushi Airport project. This announcement was made during the President's visit to the atoll, where he addressed a gathering with the people of Alifushi.
Addressing the gathering, the President assured the people that all promises made by the government to Alifushi would be fulfilled as soon as possible. He acknowledged the historical lack of development despite promises from previous administrations and expressed a commitment to expedite the Alifushi Airport project.
The President noted the airport project would be accelerated to meet the expectations of the people. He highlighted the economic potential of the island, mentioning plans to further reclaim the island and increase its economic capacity.
In addition to the airport, President Muizzu announced the establishment of an industrial zone on the island. He stated that industrial activities should increase with the airport and pledged to reclaim more land for the development of the industrial sector.
During the meeting, the President also discussed developmental plans for Alifushi, including efforts towards tourism and sports development on the island. He underscored his daily focus on serving the people's needs and reiterated the Administration's commitment to fulfilling pledges made for the islands.
As part of his three-day visit to several Raa and Baa Atoll islands, President Muizzu interacted with local communities, councils, and announced various developmental initiatives for Alifushi. The island is renowned for its carpentry and has a population of over 1,500.
