"Ungoofaaru will be prioritised when implementing housing projects"

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll will be prioritised in the implementation of a housing project in the atolls. The President made these remarks during a gathering with residents of Ungoofaaru.

Addressing the meeting, the President assured the people the pledges made to them would be fulfilled. He highlighted the importance of addressing the housing problem in the island and expressed his commitment to reclaiming the largest amount of land available in the islands to solve the housing issue. The President also mentioned plans for a house or flat project in Ungoofaaru, making it one of the priority islands for housing projects in the atolls.

President Muizzu further stated that Ungoofaaru is among the seven areas where the government has decided to develop an urban center. It will be a priority island in the policy of regional development and population consolidation in the Maldives. This will result in the implementation of housing projects and land reclamation in the island.

The President also emphasised his commitment to increasing economic opportunities in Ungoofaaru. He pledged to check for any previous agreements or leases on the island and, if necessary, work towards redirecting it for the benefit of Ungoofaaru.

In addition to the housing project, the President announced plans to build a 16-classroom building and develop a multi-purpose hall to expand the space of the island school. The government has promised to implement various development projects in Ungoofaaru as part of its commitment to the island's progress.
