President ensures utility bills will not hike during Ramadan

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged utility companies to ensure that households are not burdened with higher electricity and water supply bills than usual. He made the remarks while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu emphasized the government's commitment to providing maximum convenience to citizens during the upcoming month of Ramadan. As such,
he said that measures have been taken to alleviate the issue of inflated utility bills during Ramadan, with companies instructed to keep bills within the bounds of normal monthly expenses.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu announced the cooperation of Fenaka Corporation Limited, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), and Male' Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited (MWSC) in this endeavor. Additionally, he pledged to eliminate the USD1.9 fee imposed on households for STELCO water supply and sewerage services in the atolls.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu said that the government has decided to distribute 10 kg of rice and 10 kg of flour to all households in the Maldives. These provisions are expected to arrive within the next week, with distribution coordinated by local councils. Priority will be given to those most in need during the distribution process.
