Maldives, Sri Lanka discusses defense strengthening

Maldives and Sri Lanka have engage in discussions to enhance relations in the field of defense during a meeting between Sri Lankan Minister of State for Defense Premita Bandara Tennakoon and Maldivian Minister of Defense Mohamed Gassan Maumoon.

The meeting addressed various issues in the defense sector, focusing on the safety and security of the region. Both countries explored potential ways to strengthen military cooperation. In addition to discussions with Sri Lanka, Maldives is actively working to enhance military partnerships with various nations.

As part of these efforts, Maldives has signed an agreement with China to seek assistance from the Chinese defense ministry.
The Maldivian government is also undertaking initiatives to provide modern equipment to the Maldivian military, aiming to enhance its capabilities.
