Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed has announced the allocation of land from Thilafushi to facilitate the relocation of fiber work currently underway in Villimale'.
To address challenges faced by workers, a dedicated area for fiber boats in Villimale' has been identified, with 30,000 acres of land allocated in the reclaimed Thilafushi area, as confirmed by the minister.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Dr. Haidar mentioned that the allocation of land for relocating fiber works from Villimale' within Week 14 was a major accomplishment.
Previously, fiber work in Villimale' was situated in the southwest, later moved to the east side due to the construction of the Thilamale' Bridge. However, considering public health concerns, the government has decided to shift the fiber work to Thilafushi, as the current area in Villimale' is a popular swimming location.
