Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the return of some Indian troops stationed in Maldives to India.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry following the third meeting of the High Level Co-Group between India and Maldives, it was noted that Indian troops had been deployed on three aviation platforms in Maldives. Furthermore, the statement confirmed that the troops stationed on one of these aviation platforms have now returned home.
The statement further mentioned that the Indian troops stationed on the remaining two aviation platforms are scheduled to return home on April 10 and May 10.
In addition to the withdrawal of Indian troops, the High Level Co-Group meeting discussed various other issues. These included economic and development cooperation between India and Maldives, as well as decisions to strengthen bilateral relations and accelerate the launch of joint development projects.
The first meeting of the High Level Co-Group took place on January 14 at the Foreign Ministry, while the second meeting occurred on February 2 in New Delhi, India.
