President initiates door-to-door drive for parliamentary polls

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has launched a door-to-door campaign drive for the governing coalition in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

With the parliamentary election scheduled for April 21, 2024, political parties are actively involved in campaign-related activities.

The ruling coalition People's National Congress (PNC) has confirmed President Muizzu's participation in the door-to-door campaign initiative, except for Thursdays and Fridays. President Muizzu is set to personally meet constituents from 1400hrs to 1500hrs.

PNC stated that President Dr. Muizzu will continue participating in the campaign until April 8, 2024 and emphasised ongoing campaign efforts by the governing coalition.

Meanwhile, the opposition party Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has also initiated a door-to-door drive and other outreach efforts led by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The upcoming parliamentary election will cover 93 constituencies, with 371 individuals contesting.
