Parliament dominated by individuals lacking developmental mindsets

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has voiced concern over the parliamentary opposition hindering developmental efforts, leading to public frustration over stalled projects.

Addressing attendees at a political event in Hulhumale', the President lamented the delay in commencing several developmental projects and emphasized the necessity of hiring personnel to expedite work alongside the public.

President Muizzu stressed the importance of parliamentary alignment with new government initiatives, particularly in light of the challenges faced over the past four months. He urged voters to carefully consider the impact of their choices in the upcoming parliamentary elections, emphasising the need to elect individuals who prioritise the country's development.

The President's remarks come in the wake of Parliament's nullification of the sovereign development fund bill, a key government pledge aimed at revitalizing the Maldivian economy. The government had touted the bill as crucial for economic rejuvenation.
