Former President Nasheed requests exclusion of parliamentary salary

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has formally requested the exclusion of his legislative salary following his tenure as a Parliamentarian.

Currently serving as the Secretary-General at the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) in Ghana, Nasheed tendered his resignation as the Speaker of the 19th Parliament and as a member of the North-Machchangolhi constituency.

In a letter addressed to Parliamentary Speaker Mohamed Aslam, Nasheed disclosed his current residence in Ghana, where he is fulfilling his duties at the CVF. He further conveyed that the resolution pertaining to the secretariat has been formally approved by the Ghanaian parliament. Therefore, he urged for his parliamentary salary to be discontinued from this month onward.

Given Nasheed's previous position as President, he continues to receive state allowances.
