Establishment of airport in Nilandhoo will be most beneficial to state

Parliamentarian Abdul Muhsin Hameed has highlighted the potential benefits to the state of establishing an airport in Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll, urging for decisions to be made in favor of developing an airport in the atoll. His remarks came during a debate among parliament members, sparked by the halt of the project to establish an airport in Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll.

Parliamentarian Abdul Muhsin voiced his belief that the decision to relocate the project from Nilandhoo to Magoodhoo by the previous government was done in a manner that mocked the initial plans. He underscored the need to revise and amend laws to prevent such actions, noting that the proposed Urban Development bill in parliament would be instrumental in this regard. He stressed that projects should be initiated in a manner that maximizes economic benefits, pointing out Nilandhoo as the most populated island in the atoll with over 2500 residents and hosting several government offices providing essential services.

In support of Abdul Muhsin's position, Parliamentarian Eva Abdullah highlighted the necessity of long-term planning for national development to be effective, urging government members to refrain from politically motivated actions. Additionally, Parliamentarian Ali Niyaz emphasized the importance of devising a long-term plan for national development that transcends the short-term focus of political manifestos, suggesting it could serve as a common goal for all parties.

The establishment of a long-term plan for national development, backed by legal authority, is a pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
