President's nomination for Saudi Ambassador forwarded to parliament for review

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially nominated Mohamed Thaaha to the parliament for approval as the ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia.

Thaaha's nomination for the ambassadorship to Saudi Arabia was forwarded to the Parliament on March 26, 2024, in accordance with Article (d) of the Constitution and the Foreign Service Act.

When the President intends to appoint an ambassador to any country, he must submit the nominee's name to the Parliament. Subsequently, the Foreign Relations Committee will undertake the responsibility of thoroughly examining the nominations and conducting interviews as necessary.

Nominees put forth for appointment to various positions will undergo a voting procedure following approval by the committee.
