Gov't to offer Hiyaa flats to excluded individuals: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the government will provide Hiyaa flats to individuals who were previously excluded from the first social housing project. He made the commitment during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.

During the series, Mohamed Saleem from Male' City, voiced concern regarding the distribution of flats to individuals already possessing documentation for Hiyaa flats. He also inquired about the timeline for individuals overlooked by the previous administration to receive housing from the current government.

In response, President Dr. Muizzu assured that individuals yet to receive flats will be accommodated under the first social housing project introduced by the previous government. He disclosed plans for new housing initiatives slated for the current year, underscoring their role in addressing the issue. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the government's commitment to fulfilling its pledge of providing flats to individuals promptly.

Previous actions by the previous administration, such as declaring some Hiyaa flat recipients ineligible and repossessing their accommodations, prompted President Dr. Muizzu's commitment to rectify the situation. The government is pursuing initiatives to support residents of Hiyaa Towers, including rent reductions, additional elevator installations, and the enhancement of essential services in the vicinity.
