Election of cooperative Parliament completes public effort: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has underscored that the culmination of the citizens' efforts, conducted in the spirit of national unity during the presidential election, lies in the election of Parliament members willing to collaborate with the administration. He conveyed the message during a political gathering.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted that the electorate entrusted him with the mandate to address the nation's challenges concerning its trajectory, loss of autonomy, and stability. He also underscored the significance of electing individuals who share similar goals to the legislature, emphasising its role in governmental cooperation.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu acknowledged societal issues in the Maldives incompatible with Islamic principles, such as sexual harassment and domestic violence. He also stressed the necessity for legislative amendments and the implementation of new laws to tackle these concerns effectively.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu cautioned against electing Parliamentarians unwilling to support endeavors towards national peace and security, suggesting that such a choice would thwart the populace's aspirations. He also expressed confidence in the electorate's discernment, asserting their commitment to constructive action.
