President pledges to strengthen Fenaka and improve electricity provision

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed to enhance the services provided by Fenaka Corporation, while concurrently emphasising the urgent need for substantial improvements in electricity provision across the Maldives. He made the remark answering a question on "Raees ge Javaabu" series initiated to address public inquiries asked by public.

Responding to Moonisa Dhaoodh's inquiry about islands experiencing repetitive power shortages and the government's efforts in combating the issue, President Muizzu disclosed that upon assuming office, he noted significant challenges within Fenaka Corporation.

Furthermore, the President revealed that Fenaka Corporation not only faced a substantial debt load but also suffered from the lack of maintenance for their generator sets. He further emphasised the necessity for alterations to the generator sets, underscoring the ongoing efforts by the government.

Additionally, while progressive efforts are directed towards Fenaka Corporation, the present administration has been actively working to address issues with the one-megawatt central power plant located in Addu City. Simultaneously, Fenaka Corporation has initiated the installation of an 800-kilowatt generator in Kulhudhufushi to address the electricity shortage.
