Gan Council notes importance of increasing block grant funding

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with members of the Gan Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) at the Gan Council's Secretariat to discuss the island's developmental needs.

During the meeting, Council members updated the President on land allocation for housing to the residents. They emphasised the importance of constructing a park, increasing the Council's block grant funding, and developing school facilities.

Concerns were raised regarding the delay in the road development project, the sewerage network in newly populated areas, and seeking solutions for housing issues. WDC members also shared their concerns regarding the WDC's allowance.

President Dr. Muizzu shared his vision of establishing a mental healthcare hospital on Gan Island, emphasising its international caliber with spacious quarters and highly qualified physicians.

The President provided updates on the Government's ongoing initiatives to address the issues raised by the Council through the ministers present at the meeting. He assured them that their concerns would be addressed, demonstrating his commitment to addressing the developmental needs of Gan.
