President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that foreign ambassadors will not wield authority over him emphasising that ultimate power rests with the citizens. These remarks were delivered during his address to attendees in Addu City.
At the campaign event, President Muizzu reiterated his dedication to preserving the sovereignty and freedom of the Maldives, noting ongoing efforts since assuming office. He confirmed the redeployment of the Indian Military in accordance with existing agreements, assuring their return before May 10.
President Muizzu provided updates on the withdrawal of Indian military personnel, indicating that two out of three contingents have already returned. He emphasized the importance of various initiatives to safeguard the nation, highlighting the need for a cooperative parliament to support these efforts.
Additionally, President Muizzu stressed the internal conduct of aerial operations to protect the Maldives' airspace and economic zones. He announced the establishment of the MNDF Air Corps, along with 24/7 surveillance, underscoring the paramount importance of maintaining peace domestically and opposing foreign interference.
The President underscored the responsibility of ensuring the effective functioning of Parliament lies with the people. He urged citizens to support a collaborative parliament to safeguard the nation's independence and prosperity.
