Gov't appoints individuals to oversee atolls

Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has appointed individuals who will be responsible to oversee and monitor atolls, aligning with the administration's strategy of fostering closer collaboration with Councils.

Over the preceding six months, the government has undertaken various initiatives to enhance cooperation with Councils. As such, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held meetings with a total of 160 Councils, in the respective islands. Additionally, Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar also met with the Councils, and further conducted seminars on decentralisation in two islands.

Speaking at a programme aired on PSM News, Minister of State for Cities, Local Government and Public Works Uz. Moosa Fathuhee Adamunderscored the government's commitment to bolstering the nation's decentralisation system in tandem with local Councils. The state minister revealed the appointment of specific individuals tasked with monitoring respective atolls under the government's directive.

Furthermore, the State Minister Fathuhee disclosed the appointment of state ministers for regions with combined constituencies. He expressed confidence that this measure will facilitate closer collaboration with Councils, enabling swift resolution of challenges.

Additionally, State Minister Fathuhee stated that the enforcement and management of the decentralisation systems differ significantly from previous practices. He affirmed the government's dedication to closely engaging with residents and Councils, with the aim of achieving the envisioned benefits of decentralisation in the future.
