Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has celebrated the World Emergency Medical Day. The special ceremony held to commemorate the significance of the day was graced by the presence of Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
The ceremony was attended by various high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage and Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts.
Commemorating the World Emergency Medicine Day, IGMH has conducted a held a mass cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) event for staffs of government offices and state owned enterprises. It noted that this is the first of such a series of planned events.
This year, the theme of the Emergency Medicine Day campaign is: Climate Change Is A Health Emergency. The theme is dedicated to the impact of climate change on emergency medicine.
The World Emergency Medical Day is annually observed on May 27, marking the signing of the European Society of Emergency Medicine.
