Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has underscored the importance of bolstering administrative areas, as highlighted in a recent workshop aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of administrative bodies. These remarks were delivered during the workshop's closing ceremony.
Attended by 35 administrative and political employees from seven administrative bodies under the ministry, the two-day workshop focused on addressing challenges faced by these units and identifying key considerations for launching public works across the Maldives' atolls. Officiated by Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, the workshop aimed to foster collaboration with local councils.
Minister Shafeeq stressed the pivotal role of human resources in operational success, advocating for increased training opportunities to cultivate sustainable talent. Workshop participants also discussed the urgent need for maintenance of public spaces and explored potential solutions for their upkeep.
During the ceremony, Minister Adam Shareef highlighted that the ministry currently operates only two units in the northern and southern regions, with plans to establish 15 additional units in the near future. He emphasized discussions on the ministry's mandate, the condition of work sites, and strategies for optimizing existing resources to enhance operations. Minister Shareef assured attendees that prompt measures would be taken to address and overcome the challenges identified.
