President attends official banquet hosted by the Indian President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has attended an official banquet hosted by President of India Droupadi Murmu, honoring the leaders of neighboring countries present for the swearing-in ceremony of India's Prime Minister.

The banquet followed the swearing-in of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers of the Government of India. During the banquet, Prime Minister Modi held a joint interaction with all attending Heads of State and Government.

President Dr. Muizzu was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq. President Dr. Muizzu is visiting New Delhi at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

In addition to President Dr. Muizzu, leaders those who attended the banquet included the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe; the Vice President of Seychelles, Ahmed Afeef; the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina; the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, and Kobita Jugnauth; the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda; and the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay.

Welcoming the leaders, President Murmu thanked them for accepting the invitation for the swearing-in ceremony of the new government and for joining in this celebration of democracy. She noted that their presence on this occasion is yet another testament to the centrality of India’s ‘Neighborhood First’ policy and the SAGAR Vision for the Indian Ocean region.
