Voting has commenced for the by-elections of the Local Councils. The polling started at 0800hrs, according to the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM).
ECM has stationed a total of 25 polling stations for the by-elections. Out of this, polling started at 18 polling stations at 0800hrs. Voting did not commence on time at seven polling stations in Male’ City, as no voter showed up.
The by-elections are held for West Henveiru Constituency, Central Mahchangoalhi Constituency, Hulhumale’ Constituency, North Kulhudhuffushi Constituency, women’s seat of Rasmaadhoo Council and the President of Bileddhoo Council.
Ballot boxes for the by-election of the Male’ City council are placed at will be placed at Jamaluddin School, Henveiru Stadium, Rehendi School and Kamil Didi Primary School. The ballot boxes will be closed at 1600hrs.
