President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has renamed the National Job Centre to National Careers Service. The centre was renamed by the president, following the authorities given to him under Article 116 of the Constitution. He made the announcement in a directive issued by the President's Office.
The change was implemented on July 23, 2024. According to the directive, all correspondence addressed to the National Careers Service shall use the number 490, per the numbering system for state agencies.
The National Job Centre is run under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.
