Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has assured that the government will not suspend any projects that have already commenced practical work.
In a social media post, Minister Dr. Muththalib clarified that projects assigned to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) that have initiated practical work will continue as planned. He emphasised that these projects would receive higher priority compared to those that have not yet started practical work.
Providing insight on the decision, Minister Muththalib stated that the initiative was taken due to budget constraints. The move comes amidst media reports suggesting that MTCC was instructed to stop all its projects. Despite ongoing efforts to reduce state expenditure, the government has reiterated that it will not halt any projects that are already underway.
