Newly elected councilors for Male' City takes their oaths

Three candidates who were elected from the bi-election, as councilors for the Male' City Council, have taken their oaths. The oath-taking ceremony was held at a special ceremony held at Meerumaa hall. Judge of the Drug Court Ahmed Sameer administered the oath taking ceremony.

The three Council seats became vacant when the members of the respective seats were elected as Parliamentarians. The three candidates who secured these seats are Fathimath Shaufa Saleem, Fathimath Ishaan Ali and Ali Aiman. The three elected-councilors are members of the ruling party, People's National Congress (PNC). With these three councilors, the total number of PNC members in the Male' City Council is 14. The remaining five members include three individuals who are not members of any party and two members of the opposition party.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar, Mayor of the Male' City Council Adam Azim, ministry officials and parliamentarians.
