The Maldives has strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of the Al-Tabi’in School in Gaza City.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that over 100 displaced Palestinians were killed in the attack, which targeted a school serving as a temporary shelter for thousands of refugees. It also said that the bombing occurred during a time when a significant number of individuals were gathered for prayers.
Additionally, the ministry condemned the attack, labeling it a massacre perpetrated by Israel, and described it as an act of genocide against Palestinian civilians seeking refuge at the school. It emphasised that this action was a clear violation of fundamental principles of international law and humanitarian law, as well as the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2610. The Maldivian government also urged the international community to take action to prevent further attacks on innocent Palestinian civilians and to work towards a lasting resolution to the Gaza conflict, aiming to establish peace and stability in the region.
Furthermore, the ministry reaffirmed that the government and citizens of the Maldives remain steadfast in their support for the Palestinian civilians in their legitimate struggle to achieve their inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination and statehood.
