Youth will have a say in all of government decisions: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the youth of the nation will have say in all of the decisions made by the government. He made the statement during the first meeting of the Presidential Youth Advisory Council after its inauguration.

Speaking at the meeting held at the President’s Office, President Dr. Muizzu stated that there is no decision that the government could take without taking into consideration the opinion youth of the nation. Noting that the youth account for the largest share of the country’s population, the president said that youth will have a voice in running the state and shaping the state.

The president went onto note that he was very pleased with the establishment of a committee to advise the President on national matters. As such, he stated that the committee can advise the president in fulfilling his legal responsibility in all matters of the state within the borders of the country. He noted that the committee gives the opportunity disclose how the youth want the country to be run and developed.

Furthermore, President Muizzu urged all members of the committee to work independently without being influenced by anyone. In addition to doing things directly for the youth, the President asked the youth to work productively for all other aspects of the society.

The Presidential Youth Advisory Council consists of 15 members with two members appointed by the President. The members of the committee will represent matters concerning to sports, marketing, NGOs, political affairs, media, colleges, accounting and finance. The Council was established to increase youth participation in national affairs. During the inauguration ceremony, President Muizzu presented badges to the members of the Presidential Youth Advisory Council.
