MPS at Operational Level 3 due to heavy rainfall

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has raised its operations to Operational Level 3 in response to the ongoing heavy rainfall across the Maldives, aiming to ensure the safety and protection of citizens.

As such, the MPS conducted several initiatives in Male' City, including placing sandbags at 55 locations, draining water at five sites, installing drainage pumps in five areas, addressing water leakage from sewage junctions in two places, and providing road transport assistance in two locations. They also sandbagged the Mohamed Gasim Preschool in Hulhumale' and implemented safety measures. Neighborhood officers are visiting households to share safety information.

Additionally, the MPS is providing assistance in various locations in the atolls and islands of the country. It included responding to flooding in Nellaidhoo, Kulhudhuffushi City, Nolhivaram, Nolhivaranfaru, Dhidhdhoo, Thuraakunu, and Uligamu in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, with 40 houses affected in Ihavandhoo, 22 houses in Kelaa, and 55 houses in Baarah. Residences in Manadhoo in Noonu Atoll, and Vaadhoo in Raa Atoll, have also been flooded, and water drainage efforts are ongoing in the streets of Maalhos, Baa Atoll.

Furthermore, the MPS provided support to protect households and government institutions from flooding in Hulhudheli in Dhaalu Atoll, and Mulah in Meemu Atoll. In Gan, Addu, they assisted two households, one with a roof blown off and another with an uprooted breadfruit tree collapsing onto its roof. The MPS also continues to extend assistance to citizens across the country.
