President sends Independence Day greetings of Indonesia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings on the occasion of Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, to the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

In his message, the Maldivian President extended warm greetings and sincere good wishes to the Government and citizens of Indonesia, from the Maldivian Government and people. He also extended wishes for further progress and welfare of the people of Indonesia. The President further expressed his wishes for the good health and happiness of Indonesia's President.

Indonesia celebrated its independence at the site of its planned new capital Nusantara for the first time, in a scaled back ceremony as the still-under-construction city faces delays due to multiple problems. Incoming president Prabowo Subianto, also attended the ceremony. The ceremony saw more than 1,000 attendees.

The Independence Day of Indonesia is celebrated annually on August 17, commemorating the anniversary of the country's proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945.
