MDP Chairperson says leadership differences impacting party's management

Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Fayyaz Ismail has acknowledged differences within the party's leadership have created significant challenges in the smooth running of the party.

Speaking at the National Council of MDP, Chairperson Fayyaz revealed the party was previously managed by leaders based on their individual perspectives, leading to a lack of systematic management. He emphasised the need for stronger management structures within the party to address these issues.

An amendment proposed to the MDP's National Council aims to enhance the party's management. It includes the establishment of a Counsellors Wing, a wing for the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and a National Council for discussions. The proposed National Council for discussions is intended to offer management opportunities to members who have previously served the party but currently hold no official roles.

The amendment has been forwarded to MDP's National Council for review. In light of these challenges, the party's leadership has also committed to strengthening the party's management and ensuring it operates in a more systematic and organized manner.
