Exams alone do not equip individuals with life skills: Cities Minister

Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has emphasised that merely passing examinations is not enough to equip individuals with essential life skills. He made these remarks while addressing the awards ceremony of the Villa International High School Prize Day 2024, held at the Ghiyasuddin International School hall.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Adam Shareef stressed that everyone has the opportunity to pursue a career in the field they are most passionate about. As such, he encouraged students to explore various disciplines beyond academic writing, such as labour, engineering, and other practical fields.

Additionally, Minister Adam Shareef urged both students aspiring to pursue education and parents invested in their children's learning to seriously consider the importance of diverse skill development for future generations. He also noted that while there are opportunities to study these fields in the Maldives, the chance to fully use these skills remains limited.

At the ceremony, Grade 12 student Ahmed Zah Wadeef was recognized as the best student of Villa High School's Prize Day. He received a certificate, trophy, and prize, presented by Chairman of Villa Group Qasim Ibrahim. Minister Adam Shareef also presented awards on behalf of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
