A four-day workshop has commenced to train social workers to use the “Social Protection to Leave No One Behind” application.
The workshop aims to strengthen the technical capacity of social workers and public institutions. It is being held from 9 to 12 August in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare.
According to the ministry, participants are being trained to use national statistics and modern tools to formulate policies, and better identify and support vulnerable groups. It also aims to help build a stronger and more inclusive social protection system that leaves no one behind.
The application can help assess progress in areas such as employment opportunities, healthcare, education and quality of life, particularly in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators. The workshop builds on work and discussions conducted in 2024 and 2025 to develop the resource.
A total of 20 stakeholders are participating in the workshop, including representatives from the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), Maldives Pension Administration Office, National Bureau of Statistics and National Planning.
