Fenaka says work is underway to procure generators for 45 islands

Fenaka Corporation has disclosed that it is working to procure generators for 45 islands to improve the electricity services provided to the islands. This was revealed by the company’s Managing Director Muaz Mohamed Rasheed during an interview with PSM News.

Speaking to PSM News, Muaz noted that most of the islands where Fenaka provides electricity need to upgrade the generators to increase their capacity. He added that the company needs to procure a huge number of generators to better provide the service in the islands.

He further disclosed that the company has so far provided 47 new gensets to the islands with generators in the worst condition. Noting that there still are more islands, that needs new generators, Muaz stated that work is underway to procure these before Ramadan, next year.

Muaz added that the condition of the power plants in the islands has deteriorated due to lack of proper maintenance. He also stated that the company is planning to upgrade the electricity network in the islands to improve the quality of service provided. As such, he noted that the work to upgrade the electricity network in 15 islands is scheduled to commence very soon.

Fenaka Corporation is responsible for providing utility services to the islands. Fenaka currently provides electricity service to more than 150 islands.
