Gov’t allocates land in Hulhumale’ for four-wheeler parking

The government has allocated land from Hulhumale’ for four-wheeler parking. This was disclosed by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen.

Minister Ameen disclosed that the land allocated from Hulhumale’ for four-wheeler parking will be available to use within a two period. The land for four-wheeler parking was allocated in front of the Cemetery Mosque.

Of the 90,000 acres, 50,000 acres are reserved for four-wheelers such as taxis. The 40,000-square-foot area is reserved for towing and bringing back illegally parked vehicles on the streets of the city. Currently, work is ongoing to clear the area and level the ground as well as harden it to make parking convenient.

Highlighting the efforts being made to find a solution to the parking problem, the minister said that it is important to provide temporary parking facilities in the vacant lands in the Greater Male’ Area. He noted the new land provided for four-wheeler parking is among the many efforts by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to solve the issue of congestion in the Male’ area.

The government has earlier allocated a land from Hulhumale’ for the temporary parking of unregistered vehicles in Male’ and Hulhumale’ until the registry and other matters are amended. The land was allocated from Hulhumale’ Phase Two, adjacent to the MACL flats.

The government is working tirelessly to solve the issue of congestion in Male’ area. As such, efforts are under way to limit the number of vehicles imported into the country and designate special areas for parking.
