Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has confirmed that land reclamation works for Hulhumalé Phase III are progressing rapidly, in preparation for allocating plots under the "Binveriyaa Scheme."
The reclamation project, inaugurated on September 22, 2023, has already seen significant progress. Dredging operations for 10ha at Site A have been completed, with most of the 29ha at Site B nearing completion. In total, 63ha will be reclaimed. The project had experienced delays, halting twice, but work on Site C will begin after the completion of Site B.
Speaking to PSM News, HDC assured there are no current delays and the project is moving according to plan. The construction of a bound wall is underway, and sand-filling will begin once these works are completed, with a commitment to meet the project deadline.
HDC also highlighted plans to develop Hulhumalé Phase III with comprehensive infrastructure, including roads, bridges, parks, and recreational spaces for sports and entertainment, in addition to housing.
As part of the Binveriyaa Scheme, 19,639 eligible applicants will receive plots, with 1,351 allocated from Hulhumalé.
