President congratulates Maldives Athletic Junior team for winning bronze

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated the Junior Maldivian boys' and girls' athletic teams for securing bronze medals in the 4x100 meters relay at the fourth South Asian Junior Athletics Championship and bringing glory to the nation.

In his post on a social media platform, President Dr. Muizzu expressed pride in the talent and courage of the Maldives Athletic Junior team's achievement. The fourth South Asian Junior Athletics Championship was held from September 11-13 in Chennai, India. The Junior Maldivian boys' and girls' athletes secured bronze medals in the 4x100 meters relay at the championship and set a new Maldivian record in the category.

This year, 16 athletes from the Maldives, eight boys and eight girls, participated in the championship, earning two medals for the Maldives. Historically, the Maldives has won five medals across three previous South Asian Junior Athletics Championships, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2007 and 2018, and Ranchi, India, in 2013.
