Maldives and Oman discuss strengthening diplomatic and strategic relations

Maldives and Oman have held extensive discussions on the enhancement of diplomatic and strategic relations between the two nations. The discussions were held between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, who is also the Head of Delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79). The meeting was held on the sidelines of the UNGA79.

During the meeting, President Muizzu expressed his gratitude for the continued support provided by the government of the Sultanate of Oman and shed light on the development agenda of the Maldives. He identified several crucial areas that require additional assistance, such as budgetary support, infrastructure development, and the training of local teachers to build human capacity, among others.

Concluding the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu and the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman reiterated their commitment to working together on issues of shared interest. They also emphasised their determination to strengthen diplomatic and strategic relations moving forward.
