President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Maldives-China relations will continue to strengthen and elevate the bilateral ties, delivering mutual benefits to the residents of both countries. The remarks were made by the president in social media post, commemorating the 75th National Day of China.
In the post, President Dr. Muizzu extended heartfelt felicitations to China's President Xi Jinping, the government and the residents of China. The president emphasised the importance of the Maldives-China bilateral relations and reaffirmed the commitment of the Maldives to the One-China Principle.
Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and China were established on October 14, 1972. This year marks the 52nd year since the Maldives and China established diplomatic relations.
The National Day of China is observed each year on October 1, commemorating the establishment of the People's Republic of China. This date marks the victory of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over the former ruling party, the Chinese Nationalist Party, effectively concluding a prolonged internal conflict that lasted 23 years.
