Agriculture Ministry launches the "Dhanduveriya" app to provide vital info for farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has introduced a mobile version of its "Dhanduveriya" application, designed to provide farmers with a wealth of essential information. The mobile app was officially launched by MNU Chancellor, Dr. Mahmood Shougee, during a special panel discussion held in honor of National Farmers' Day and World Food Day.

The platform was originally launched for web use in 2023. However, it is now accessible on mobile devices. The initiative is part of the Maldives Agri Business Programme, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), with full completion of the app expected by January 2025.

The application also offers expanded services, including technical farming guidance, crop planning with automated activity reminders for planting and harvesting, and a community forum for discussing agricultural challenges. In addition, it offers a marketplace connecting farmers with buyers, and real-time updates on agricultural product prices.

The technical information of farming will be accessible to all users through the application. However, features like the forum and marketplace require users to log in via the eFaas portal.
