President declares November 10 a public holiday

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared Sunday, November 10, 2024, as a public holiday to coincide with the following day, which is Republic Day. Republic Day of the Maldives is celebrated annually on November 11, commemorates the establishment of the second republic of Maldives in 1968, marking a significant moment in the nation’s history.

The President’s Office released a directive today, confirming that employees will enjoy uninterrupted leave on this holiday. This move aims to promote national unity and give people the opportunity to engage in celebrations.

According to this year’s calendar, the day prior to Republic Day (Sunday, November 10, 2024) is designated as an official working day.
