Only 1% of total state expenses allocated to politicians

Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer has stated that the government is set to spend only 1% of the total state expenses to politicians. He made the remarks while submitting the supplementary budget to the parliament.

In his address, Minister Zameer stated that as several reform measures were talked about by the previous government for years, although no necessary action was taken to implement them. Therefore, the current government had to initiate efforts to implement these reforms, which resulted in delays beyond the planned amount of the budget.

Furthermore, Minister Zameer shed light on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's efforts to reduce state-expenses. The efforts include reducing expenditure on transportation and hosting ceremonies and events. Additionally, the minister stated that the president announced pay cuts for politicians, adding that the government will only be spending 1% on politicians.

Moreover, Minister Zameer underscored the crucial importance of fulfilling the pledges made by the government to the residents, to enhance l;living standards and economic development. He expressed optimism in the supplementary budget, stating that it will play a pivotal role in improving the amount and quality of services provided to the residents.
