"State-budget for 2025 will prioritise key developmental projects"

Parliamentarian Ahmed Azaan Marzooq has stated that significant emphasis will be placed on allocating funds for essential developmental projects crucial to each island when preparing the state budget for 2025.

Speaking at a programme aired on PSM News, Parliamentarian Azaan shed light on the government's efforts to reduce state-expenses and generate more revenue, aiming to overcome the challenging financial situation the economy faces. He indicated that while efforts to draft the upcoming budget are in progress, the government will prioritise expenditure reduction.

Furthermore, Azaan disclosed that prior to the preparations of the budget, the government will determine the most required developmental projects for each island. He emphasised that ensuring adequate funding for these projects will be a primary focus during the budget formulation process.

Meanwhile, Parliamentarian Mohamed Mamdhooh affirmed that funds will not be allocated for projects wastefully. Highlighting that the previous administration allocated excess funds to certain projects in the budget, he alleged that some projects were delayed purposefully, to financially benefit certain companies involved. Mamdhooh emphasised that the state-budget for 2025 will be prepared, such that it can fulfill the pledges of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and ensure suffiecient funds are allocated for projects.

This year's state-budget was prepared by the previous administration, with the current parliament observing that not enough funds were allocated to run the developmental projects envisioned by the government. It also noted that the supplementary budget had to be proposed this year, due to approving this year's state-budget irresponsibley.
