Attorney General Ahmed Usham has disclosed that the Auditor General's report on public expenditure over the past few years is expected to be completed within two weeks. He shared this update during a recent press conference at the President's Office.
The report addresses the government's spending of USD 130 million beyond the budget approved by Parliament during the previous administration. The Attorney General has previously noted that while billions were expended, these funds were not properly accounted for in the Finance Ministry's system.
Attorney General Usham stated that a decision on the findings will be made once the Auditor General's report is released, confirming that all necessary information is now in hand. Attorney General Usham emphasized the government's commitment to rectify any mistakes in state account management and to amend laws to prevent similar issues in the future.
