Military made significant progress over the past year: Chief of Defence Force

Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy has noted that the military has made significant achievements over the past year, under the dedicated efforts to advance and enhance the military capabilities.

In his address at the Dhivehi Sifainge Askaree Hushahelhun" ceremony, held to commemorate the Victory Day, Chief of Defence Major General Hilmy underscored the crucial importance of valuing and remembering the sacrifice and bravery of the Maldivian army in the November 3 attack, in which 19 individuals passed away. He emphaseised that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu decided to celebrate the Victory Day of the Maldives at a national scale, attending all the events organised to commemorate the Victory Day. He stated that this represents how much the president values the sacrifices made to fight and gain the independence, during the attack.

Furthermore, Chief of Defence Major General Hilmy highlighted on the successful efforts of President Dr. Muizzu and the Ministry of Defence, to introduce new military advancements and services. He shed light on the initiatives undertaken, and the progress made to advance the military, during the very first year since the current administration assumed office.

Additionally, the Chief of Defence Force affirmed that the Maldivian army will be prepared to defend their nation with bravery, regardless of any situation which may arise. He also reiterated the bravery of the soldiers and public individuals who defended the nation during the coup attack in 1988.
